THE ULTIMATE SUMMER BUCKET LIST || 10 Ways To Kill Boredom This Summer

It’s summer time, and that means lots of adventures, traveling, meeting new people, having unforgettable moments and even starting up summer flings. Everything happens in the summer!

But what if you’re not traveling? You can’t really think of what to do this summer or maybe you’re just not into meeting new people, having adventures and all of that.

Still, your summer holiday doesn’t have to be boring, there’s so much to do that does not involve interactions with others or even spending any amount of money.

HERE’S 10 THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMER HOLIDAY!

1. READ A BOOK

And finish it. The holidays are a great time to catch up on favorite past time activities which you couldn’t do with all the busyness of school & work. Get a big book, an interesting one, and finish it up this summer. Then start another one right after, give yourself a challenge to finish, let’s say, 3 books this summer. Remember, the key is to enjoy it and learn something too.

2. START A DIY PROJECT

This holiday is a great time to bust out your creative skills and get to use your hands for something somewhat productive. Be it crafts, learning to style hair, learning to sew, or even decorating your room. These are great activities that cost you a small amount of money but produces a big outcome.

3. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE

Learning a new language is a great way to pass away time this summer, two months is a lot of time to finish the basics of an international language. You could take an intensive course online if you want to be serious, or, you could pop on YouTube and find a great video which teaches languages. My favorite channel which I use to learn French at the moment is Learn French with Vincent.

4. MAKE YOUR OWN LEMONADE

Summer heat calls for a truly refreshing glass of lemonade, and what better way to enjoy it than knowing you made it yourself? You can add whatever you want and tweak it to your own taste. Perfect!

5. SPEND A LAZY AFTERNOON BY THE BEACH

If you have a beach where you live, then this weather is absolutely perfect for taking a day off and spending it there. You could read a book by the beach side, while sipping on your home made lemonade, or you could just get in the water and enjoy the waves.

6. TRY A NEW RECIPE

Or learn how to cook. What better time to spend all the free time learning something valuable to our stomachs, than learning to cook delicious new recipes from a different culture, or learning to perfect the art of food presentation. You know, all that fancy stuff. Remember, you don’t have to break the bank for this. YouTube is your friend as always!

7. DO A WALKING TOUR OF YOUR CITY

With the warm weather and long days, touring can be much easier and much more fun. Grab your camera, a water bottle, some sunscreen and get to discover amazing places in your city.

8. RIDE A BIKE

Or learn how to. Last year, I taught two friends how to ride a bike, brushes shoulders  and we did it at night when there was much less traffic and probability of getting more embarrassed. Riding is one of my most favorite activities to do in the summer. You could ride a bike anywhere, faster and enjoy the cool breeze in your face. It’s a great way to discover your city too, if you’re feeling lazy to walk.

9. THROW A BBQ PARTY FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS

If you’re feeling up to it, gather round some friend and family and have a little get together in your back yard with some food and drinks. Nothing brings people together more than the thought of food, and it’s a great way to catch up with everyone. Kill 20 birds with one stone, right?

10. VISIT A FREE MUSEUM

I love museums and I love learning about things so this would be one thing I would spend my summer doing. Visit a museum in your city sometime, take in the beauty of history and you’ll not regret it.

There’s a whole lot of things to occupy yourself with this holiday. You don’t have to stay home and be bored all the time. If you can, make a summer travel list and try to complete it.

I’m spending my summer doing a lot of these things mentioned above, and more. What are your summer plans?

  2. Lovely list! Read a book (or ten) is always top of mine too! 🙂 Can’t wait for summer to roll around again here in New Zealand. It’s super chilly at the moment.
