lush mask of magnanminty review, the ash tree journal

Some months ago, I was examining my face and looking at my pores, when I thought to myself, “I need a mud mask”.

Lush has always been my go-to for all things natural, so I had no hesitations going over there to get my dose of all things clay and muddy.

LUSH has a range of facemasks, however Mask of Magnaminty is the only one containing clay. The mask has an expiration date 4 months after it was made. This means by the time you buy it in-store, it expires in 3-4 months. LUSH products often come with expiration dates since they contain numerous “fresh” ingredients.

DESCRIPTION:

This mask is called “Mask Of Magnaminty” from Lush Cosmetics. It comes in a 125g tub. I love how it comes in a black color, which represents Lush as a company.

It contains peppermint oil for cooling and stimulating the skin, honey as a moisturiser and antiseptic, kaolin to cleanse and absorb, ground aduki beans to exfoliate and a few other goodies.

I am a person who loves the smell and taste of mint. If mint isn’t your thing, you may not like this.  The aduki beans serve to lightly exfoliate your face when you wash the mask off. At first I didn’t like the feeling of the beans as they were larger than the typical exfoliants in the size of something like salt, so I would wash them off instead of trying to exfoliate. Later, when I got used to them, I began to enjoy them more. The effect is somewhat like a massage. There are other ingredients such as honey and essential oils which are soothing to the skin.

My Experience, Using It :

Following the instructions on the pack, I applied this mask on my clean, wet face. I’m pleased to report that at first impression, this mask is actually quite calming for my skin. My face feels really soft and looks more radiant after use. In addition to routine use, I also used this alot, when I had bad skin days. Lush also claimed that this mask was great for hangovers and they didn’t lie. This mask came through for me on one of my hangover mornings!

PROS

This mask smelled so comforting, I love the mint feel everytime I open the tub

My face always felt so smooth after application.

It helped soothe my bad face days.

It is cruelty free, which means they do not test their products on animals.

CONS

Okay, the beans were a bit too uncomfortable to use at first, but it does take some getting used to.

The mask only lasts 4 weeks from purchase. I don’t know if this is really a con because I chose the non paraben option but for someone who likes to extend her product usage for atleast over a month, this seemed just a tad bit inconvenient to my pocket.

Would I recommend or repurchase it?

Absolutely! I love the refreshing feel and soothing ingredients, as well as what it does for my skin.

Have you tried Mask of Magnaminty? Can you recommend another LUSH fresh face mask for when this runs out?
