Happy International Women’s Day!
International Women’s Day aims to celebrate the achievements of women, as well as act as a catalyst for change when it comes to gender equality.
Over the last few years, there have been a lot of incredible TED Talks by women. In celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, I present to you the TED talks from women that will empower you to be better, be bold and break free.

Most of these talks contain thought provoking views for anyone interested in feminism and women’s issues.
- We should all be feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. In this classic talk that started a worldwide conversation about feminism, Adichie asks that we begin to dream about and plan for a different, fairer world — of happier men and women who are truer to themselves.
2. Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg looks at why a smaller percentage of women than men reach the top of their professions — and offers 3 powerful pieces of advice to women aiming for the C-suite.
3. In a provocative, thoughtful talk, Chemaly explores the dangerous lie that anger isn’t feminine, showing how women’s rage is justified, healthy and a potential catalyst for change.
4. The struggles that she ever faced have turned Zain Asher into one successful individual. Zain doesn’t believe in competition; instead, she believes in creating her own path to aim passion. Being innovative is more beneficial than comparing yourself to others.
6. Public policy expert Anne-Marie Slaughter made waves with her 2012 article, “Why women still can’t have it all.” But really, is this only a question for women? Here Slaughter expands her ideas and explains why shifts in work culture, public policy and social mores can lead to more equality — for men, women, all of us.
7. As pioneering doctor Paula Johnson describes in this thought-provoking talk, lumping everyone in together means we essentially leave women’s health to chance. It’s time to rethink.
Everyone has an idol or a hero. Someone they look up to for a variety of reasons, whether that’s their character, their imagination, their skills, their accomplishments or their wisdom. I think it’s a great thing, to look up to the greatest aspects of someone’s being, to strive for and to help mould your own ideas, strategies and choices. I also have my idols and heroes, whom I try to channel at different moments of my week when I just need some inspiration to push me through. And it seems that in this wonderfully diversifying age we appear to be living in, that the number of powerful, aspirational, positive women, is on a sharp increase.

Who are the women that inspire you?
Great post, Ash! My favorite and most inspiring female is Michelle Obama!
